Pain Management
Learn what techniques a Pain Specialist can use to help manage your pain and enjoy a better quality of life.
Interventional Pain Management
Find out the wide range of minimally-invasive procedures a Pain Specialist can perform to reduce your pain.
Facet Joint Rhizotomy (Lumbar)
A minimally-invasive day procedure to help with lower back pain. Also known as a medial branch radiofrequency ablation.
Facet Joint Rhizotomy (Thoracic)
A minimally-invasive day procedure to help with upper back pain. Also known as a medial branch radiofrequency ablation.
Facet Joint Rhizotomy (Cervical)
A minimally-invasive day procedure to help with neck pain. Also known as a medial branch radiofrequency ablation.
Facet Joint Injections (Lumbar)
Injection of local anaesthetic and steroid into the lumbar facet joint. Commonly used for treatment of facet joint pain.
Facet Joint Injections (Cervical)
Injection of local anaesthetic and steroid into the cervical facet joint. Commonly used for treatment of facet joint pain.
Medial branch blocks
Injection of local anaesthetic to the nerve supplying the facet joint. Commonly used for diagnosis of facet joint pain.
Caudal Epidural Steroid Injection
Injection of local anaesthetic and steroids into the epidural space can help with sciatica and discogenic pain.
Epidural Steroid Injection (Thoracic)
Injection of local anaesthetic and steroids into the epidural space can help with sciatica and discogenic pain.
Epidural Steroid Injection (Cervical)
Injection of local anaesthetic and steroids into the epidural space can help with sciatica and discogenic pain.
Nerve Root Sleeve Injection
Involves injection of local anaesthetic and steroids into a nerve root for radicular pain. Pulsed RF can be done simultaneously.
Radiofrequency Ablation for Pain
A minimally-invasive procedure that stops the transmission of pain using different modalities.
Stellate Ganglion Block
Injection of local anaesthetic into the stellate ganglion. Commonly performed for menopausal flushing, sweating, and upper limb pain (ie CRPS).
Suprascapular Nerve Block (Shoulder)
A suprascapular nerve block and pulsed rhizotomy can significantly improve shoulder pain.
Genicular Nerve Rhizotomy (Knee)
A minimally-invasive day procedure to help reduce pain due to knee osteoarthritis.
Hyalgan Injection for Knee Pain
Hyalorunate is a natural fluid that normally lubricates and cushions your knee joint.
Ankle Nerve Block
A nerve block and pulsed rhizotomy of up to five nerves can be targeted to reduce pain in the ankles.
Sacroiliac Joint Injection
Pain due to arthritis and inflammation of the sacroiliac joints. Experienced as buttock pain. Treatment involves steroid injections and a rhizotomy
Ilio-inguinal Nerve Block (Groin)
An ultrasound-guided nerve block to help with pain radiating down the groin. Useful for chronic pain experienced after hernia repair.
Costovertebral Joint Injection
Injection of local anaesthetic and steroid into the costovertebral joint for diagnosis and pain relief.
Trigger Point Injections
Used to treat painful areas of muscles that contain trigger points (knots) that form when muscles are unable to relax.
Coccydynia
Pain in the coccyx (tailbone). A ganglion impar block and pulsed rhizotomy is a simple procedure that can provide relief of pain.
Occipital Neuralgia
Cervicogenic headache that is experienced due to irritation of the greater occipital nerve. Treatment involves a nerve block and rhizotomy.
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
A painful condition of a persons arm, hand, leg or foot after an injury. Changes in temperature, colour, swelling, sweating, skin appearance can occur.
